A 21-year-old woman who was allegedly abducted with her friend on the 11th of January 2014 told the court that Umendra Kumar lied to them to scare them.
The 33-year-old taxi driver is charged with a count of abduction and three counts of rape.
It is alleged that Kumar had abducted a 14-year-old girl from Nasinu and took her to Nadi, Lautoka and Rakiraki and raped her on three separate days.
The alleged incidents took place on the 11th, 12th and 13th of January 2014.
The woman who was 17 years old at the time of the offence told the court that when they reached Nadi on the 11th of January 2014, Kumar told a family member that the 14 year girl was his wife while she was another man’s wife who was also with them.
The court heard that the 21-year-old woman went to check on her friend the next morning as she heard her screaming the previous night and knocking on the walls.
The 14-year-old girl who allegedly spent the night with Kumar told her friend that Kumar had raped her the previous night.
The 21-year-old told the court that she could not go to her friend at night although she heard her scream as another man by the name of Ron was with her the whole night.
The case will continue tomorrow.
