"54% of the total child abuse cases that are reported in Fiji are sex crimes."
This was highlighted by the Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Koya while launching the Ride for Safety Campaign in Lautoka today.
Koya reiterated that authorities have zero tolerance on crimes against children and perpetrators will face the full brunt of the law.
He urges all parents to be more vigilant during the festive season to ensure that children enjoy the holidays.
Koya stresses that children are the future of Fiji and they will not let any harm come to them.
Koya highlights that it is not acceptable under any circumstance that children are assaulted and abused.
