Residents of Korolevu will have a quicker response from the fire emergency services as a new fire station will be built soon.
During the ground breaking ceremony for the new fire station, Local Government, Housing and Environment Minister Parveen Bala said the people and communities of Korolevu and the surrounding Coral Coast have been looking forward to this project as the area has been the backbone of the tourism industry.
Bala highlighted in the past that hotel and resort fires have had a devastating impact in the tourism sector, hence the new fire station will bring a great relief to people.
He stressed that the Coral Coast highway is too well known for road accidents therefore, firefighters from this station will be able to respond more effectively and efficiently.
Bala said after the completion of this $1.2 million project, it will house two fire and road accident appliances and an ambulance.
The station is expected to complete by September this year.
