Usaia Kilaiverata who allegedly murdered his defacto wife last year was told in the Suva High Court to refrain from lying.
High Court Judge Justice Priyantha Fernando told Kilaiverata that he was lying when he said that he does not have some documents regarding his case.
Justice Fernando warned Kilaiverata to stop confusing the court as he has already received all necessary documents.
Kilaiverata also told the court that he will fight the case on his own and has refused to take help from a lawyer.
Justice Fernando then asked Kilaiverata whether he knows that there will be a voir dire hearing. Kilaiverata replied by saying no.
The Judge then explained Kilaiverata the procedures and his role during the voir dire hearing.
The matter will be now be called on 13th September.
It is alleged that Kilaiverata assaulted 32‑year‑old Losana McGowan during a heated argument after returning from clubbing at about 3am in Suva last year.
Police said she fell and hit her head on the concrete floor.
