The Fiji Police has corporate Key Performance Indicators specifically tagged to women and children related crimes and these are reducing violence against women by 10% and reducing violence against children also by 10%.
This was highlighted by the Minister for Defence and National Security, Inoke Kubuabola following a question raised by Fiji First MP, Alvick Maharaj on what initiatives the Fiji Police Force is taking to address violence against women and children.
Kubuabola says that the Fiji Police Force has a mutual understanding and a working relationship with a number of agencies.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition, Ro Teimumu Kepa told parliament that they have received complaints from schools and tertiary institutions about the language and behavior of various students in the schools.
Ro Teimumu then asked Kubuabola on how is the Fiji Police Force working with schools and tertiary institutions to curb the behavior of the students.
Kubuabola says that the Fiji Police Force is doing awareness training with all the stakeholders.
Meanwhile Fiji First MP Samuela Vunivalu then told parliament that some women and children are still living in fear as some cases are being acquitted in court.
Vunivalu questioned if there are any other ways this problem can be solved and if there are any other ways or means police can ensure that women and children don’t live in fear.
