With the aim to improve service delivery, the Fiji Corrections Service Commissioner, Iferemi Vasu has imposed a kava ban at the Naboro Prison Compound.
The Kava ban has been in force now for two months and according to Vasu its main purpose is to ensure that the Fiji Corrections Service has active and healthy officers.
Vasu said they want officers who will be able to perform their duties diligently and kava drinking is a barrier to this.
He said the ban will only be lifted when the Head Supervisor at the Naboro Prison Compound is satisfied with the officers’ performance.
There was also a kava ban in the Nasinu Prison compound for two months and it was removed last week.
