50-year-old Shammi Kapoor who pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter, arson and damaging property has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment by High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo.
The court heard that on the 16th of February 2014, Kapoor set fire to a house in Wailea Settlement, Vatuwaqa which resulted in the death of 17-year-old Shanesh Kumar.
The total cost of damages sustained in this fire was $45,000.
Kapoor has been given a non-parole period of 5 years.
