High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo has sentenced two former Public Works Department workers to 6 years imprisonment for charges relating to abuse of office and causing a loss.
Amelia Vunisea and Laisa Halafi are convicted with 1 count each of abuse of office, and 12 and 13 counts of causing a loss respectively.
The two women had facilitated the processing of false payments to Professional Stationeries which resulted in PWD losing $34,236.77 in 2010.
Vunisea and Halafi were charged with 8 other people who had pleaded not guilty to the charges laid against them.
Both women had pleaded guilty to their charges.
The case has been adjourned for the 8 other accused to the 5th of October.
