High Court Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe will sum up the case tomorrow of a 48‑year‑old man who is charged with two counts of rape.
The man is alleged to have raped a woman on the 26th of December in 2012.
It is alleged that the man committed this offence while being employed as a security officer at the Suva Flea Market.
It was told in court that the woman had gone into the Flea Market with her boyfriend.
The woman has alleged that the 48‑year‑old father of 7 children committed the offence after her boyfriend had left the Flea Market.
The accused person while giving evidence said that whatever had happened between them was consensual as the woman and her boyfriend had agreed to it.
The man said in court that he had allowed the woman and her boyfriend to have sexual intercourse inside one of the stalls in the Flea Market.
He said he had later asked the two to vacate the stall after which both had replied that they had no fare to go back home.
The 48‑year‑old then suggested that he have sex with the woman and he would give them their fare.
It was agreed by the woman and the man, after which the act was done.
