High Court Judge Justice Priyantha Fernando has ruled that he will hear a case of aggravated robbery involving money worth $15,000 and will not transfer the matter to the Magistrates Court.
State lawyer had asked the court if the matter could be transferred to the Magistrates court as only $15,000 is involved in the matter.
Justice Fernando said the matter should be heard in the High Court as there is an increase in the number of aggravated robbery cases and most recently there was a case in Kashmir, Lautoka.
Eremasi Rinasu, Simione Vakacokasui, Jekope Raibevu and Luke Taginiqali have been charged with aggravated robbery and all four have elected to represent themselves.
They were allegedly involved in a case of robbery.
