A man charged with a count of aggravated burglary and a count of theft has pleaded not guilty to his charges in the Suva High Court.
It is alleged Jesoni Qoro with another person entered into a container belonging to Rups Investment Ltd and stole a Border Electric Drill, welding plant, bolt cutter, chainsaw, ratchet set, a wheel barrow and a water-blaster worth $3,227.
The alleged incident occurred on the 10th of June this year in Raiwaqa.
The defense lawyer told High Court Judge Justice Daniel Goundar that Qoro has stated that another person had broken into the container and stolen the tools and that he had not stolen the items.
The lawyer said Qoro had said in his caution interview that another man had told him that he was going to get his tools from his workplace and he did not know the man was going to steal.
Justice Goundar said when the other man had broken into the container Qoro had continued to wait for him.
The Judge then asked the prosecution lawyer if the line of investigation was taken towards the other man since Qoro was saying he did not steal.
The prosecution lawyer told the court no investigation was carried out and Justice Goundar said that it should.
Qoro has been remanded in custody and the case will be called on the 17th of next month to consider bail.
