Jasper Williams High School and Natabua High have both extended their lead in the girl’s and boy’s divisions of the 2015 Coca Cola Games.
Laisani Likuceva has just won gold for Jasper in the Junior Girls Long Jump event while Venina Turaganisolevu won gold for Jasper in the Intermediate Girl’s Javelin event.
Venina also set a new record with a throw of 40.70 metres.
Meanwhile former Tavua College student, Waisale Dausoko won his second gold medal for Natabua a few minutes ago in the Senior Boy’s Triple Jump event.
Looking at the Fijivillage, Legend FM and FM96 Medal Tally, the defending girl’s division champion, Jasper is now leading with 12 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze, Adi Cakobau School is in second place with 3 gold, 9 silver and 7 bronze while Saint Joseph’s Secondary School is in third place with 3 gold.
In the boy’s division, Natabua still leads with 9 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze, QVS is in second place with 6 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze, defending boy’s division champion Marist is in third place with 5 gold, 4 silver and 9 bronze while Suva Grammar School is in fourth place with 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze.
24 gold medals are at stake in the boy’s division while 25 gold medals are up for grabs in the girl’s division on the final day of competition.
Each division has 16 gold medals at stake on the tracks now after the completion of the 3,000 metres event.
Defending boy’s division champion, Marist won gold in the last hour in the Senior Boy’s High Jump.
Sireli Rokoilo took gold for the Red Fire camp.
Poasa Setoqi of Marist took silver while Aisake Raibe of DAV College Ba took the bronze medal.
Queen Victoria School’s Kuliniasi Baleisomosomo has secured the gold medal in the Junior Boy’s Discus.
Tevita Namuka of AD Patel Secondary settled for silver while Kautane Erasito of Marist is taking home the bronze medal.
Avikash Lal of Vishnu Deo Memorial School from Lautoka won gold in a great race in the 3,000 metres boy’s event this morning
Lekima Regu of Ratu Luke Memorial took the silver medal while Pegasus Woodley took bronze for Natabua.
Avikash Lal said he wakes up at 3am to train for an hour and then helps his dad in the farm before he goes to school every morning.
He said getting gold in the 3,000 metres event is a good start for his preparation for the Pacific Games in July in Papua New Guinea.
The 4x100 metres heats are currently underway while the 800 metres finals will start at 10.40am.
The 200 metres finals start at 11.40am while the finals of the 4x100 metres relays commence at 12.40pm.
The final event of the Coke Games, the 4x400 metres relay finals, will start at 2pm today.
