The Japan International Corporation Agency has carried out feasibility studies on hydro potential sites in Fiji and have identified three hydro potential sites.
This was confirmed by the Acting Director of the Department of Energy Mikaele Belena.
Belena says these potential sites are in Cakaudrove, Ba and Namosi.
He says the Cakaudrove site is in Wailevu with the installed capacity of 14.4 megawatts, Ba river with the installed capacity of 12 megawatts and Waivaka in Namosi with the installed capacity of 30 megawatts.
Belena says the Fiji Electricity Authority has also carried out hydro feasibility studies for the Wailoa Downstream and Qaliwana.
He says an Expression of Interest was also put out for the installation of 2 megawatts and 5 megawatts solar hybrid in Qeleloa and two companies have been shortlisted for this project.
