Jone Rabuno Cokanauto, pastor of a church group known as Jezreel Lion of Judah.

An investigation is underway to confirm if the Jezreel Lion of Judah is a registered religious body under the country’s Religious Bodies Act.

As investigations continue in relation to the allegations levelled against the church pastor, Jone Cokanauto, police are trying to gather more information about the group.

Cokanauto has already been charged with one count of indecent assault in relation to an alleged incident between January and July 2006.

Fijivillage has received information that the group started about 15 years ago.

A number of young women joined the group as prayer warriors.

Many of these girls left their homes and did not finish their education as they were allegedly promised a better future if they became part of the group.

Many of the girls dropped out of university to join the group.

Police Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, ACP Henry Brown says they are trying to gather evidence in relation to a number of cases.

ACP Brown confirms that some people have started coming forward with information.

We have been informed that the alleged victims are staying in different parts of the country.

Please contact police on 3315599 if you have any information that could assist in investigations.
