More than half a million dollars was handed over as foreign investment registration fees to the Ministry of Economy by investment Fiji.
This fees were collected from January to July of last year.
Investment Fiji CEO Godo Mueller-Teut says there were 209 foreign investment applications received during the first half of 2016 representing a 19% increase in the number of applications received by Investment Fiji compared to the same period in 2015.
Mueller-Tuet says the highest amount of fee was collected in June with a value of more than $107,000.
He says this clearly indicates that Fiji is now truly becoming an ideal and an attractive investment location for foreign investors.
Mueller-Tuet says major sectors of interest to foreign investors are services, wholesale and retail, tourism and agriculture.
