An investigation is now underway in relation to two fire incidents in the Northern division yesterday with initial investigation indicating that both fires started from cooking appliances.
Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said a teachers quarters occupied by a 32-year-old and his family was destroyed early yesterday morning in Nabouwalu.
Naisoro said the 32-year-old was woken up by his wife when she noticed flames coming from their kitchen.
They managed to run out of the house with their four children.
His wife sustained burns and is admitted at the Nabouwalu Health Centre for observation.
In another incident, quick action by neighbors saved the home of a 44-year-old mechanic at Rara Housing in Lajonia.
The mechanic had returned with his family from visiting a relative at the Labasa Hospital and was at his neighbors home when he was alerted by his son that their kitchen was on fire.
Quick action by neighbors prevented the fire from spreading to other parts of the house.
