Investigation into death of victim in house fire to be referred to Resident Magistrate

The investigation into the death of the 37-year-old man who was a victim of a house fire last month in Velovelo, Lautoka will be referred to a Resident Magistrate for an inquest.

This follows confirmation by the National Fire Authority that the fire was not deliberately set and therefore it is not a case of arson.

Investigation findings by Police have also ruled out foul play.

Police say Kamlesh Reddy was sleeping at home with his 38‑year‑old brother and 65‑year‑old father when the incident happened at 10.30pm.

Reddy’s brother and father ran out of the house and tried to save Reddy but they were unsuccessful.
