The use of video recording and investigating techniques is important in the role of the police as part of a broader sector reform and access to justice.
Those were the words of the British High Commissioner Melanie Hopkins while opening the “Fiji Police Force training of the trainers in Investigating Interviewing Workshop” at Fiji Revenue and Customs Service today.
She says that the UK is very pleased to partner with UNDP on the support to the Fiji Police Force almost a year after opening the first round of training on video recording of police interviews.
Hopkins says that the UK government condemns torture in all circumstances and called on governments around the world including Fiji to eradicate this abhorrent practice.
The training will be conducted by UK expert in inspection and monitoring of detention facilities, Colin Bridge.
Hopkins encourages participants to make the most of learning from Bridge during the training.
