Year 10 students will now be well versed with the electoral process after the Fijian Elections Office handed over a Learning Module for the Year 10 Social Science Curriculum to the Minister for Education and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum today.
Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says the Module titled ‘Introduction to Elections’ will be distributed and used by the Year 10 students from this year.
Saneem says the social studies subject in schools had portions in its curriculum on elections where teachers had to do their own research and talk about elections.
He says the Elections Office took this opportunity to enhance the curriculum material so that teachers are at ease when they are conducting the training.
Dainisha Chand who is a year 11 student at DAV College says this is a good initiative done by the Fijians Elections Office.
Meanwhile, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says he is really happy because the young people of the country are being educated on the importance of elections at a certain age.
Sayed-Khaiyum says this will also help stop the spread of false information.
