The installation of close to 100 CCTV cameras in the Capital City is expected to start from the third quarter of this year to ensure the safety of the businesses, the people and tourists visiting Fiji.
Suva City Council Special Administrator Chandu Umaria said the program will be ongoing till the end of 2015.
Umaria said the program includes installing cameras at the bus station, market area, Cumming Street, Marks Street and Waimanu Road which will be monitored by Totogo Police Station.
Meanwhile, cameras have already been installed at My Suva Picnic Park which is being monitored by the Muanikau Police Post.
The cameras are expected to cost more than $100,000.
