An inmate who was found in possession of 1.4 grams of marijuana is sentenced to ten months imprisonment.
Suva Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa said that Nishal Rohit Roy committed the offence in a remand centre which is an aggravated feature of the offence.
The court heard that on the 1st September in 2015 Roy was searched by the Fiji Corrections Officer at the Suva Remand Centre and found three sachets of dried leaves.
The court was satisfied that the guilty plea was made voluntarily and unequivocally.
Court also ordered that any drugs still in police custody are to be photographed and destroyed in the presence of the officer in Charge of the Criminal Registry or his delegate within 30 days.
