The Water Authority of Fiji says that the reason behind so many burst mains along and in close proximity of the Nausori Area is due to increased pressure in water supply.

Fijivillage had raised concerns about a number of burst mains occurring in and around Nausori following works at the Waila Water Treatment plant.

The Authority says that this is an indication that the customer has started to receive better water pressure in their tap.

They say another reason as to why there are a lot of burst mains is ageing Infrastructure, pressure in fluctuations in water pipelines or external factors such as damage to water pipes by machines during earth works.

The Authority says they will be working to fix these issues as they come to ensure that the customers get the best service.

Earlier this year the Authority said that they are now replacing the old pipes with PVC pipes.
