An increase in the number of cases of conjunctivitis also known as 'cika' or 'pink eye' has been recorded in different parts of the country.
The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has noted an increase in the number of cases of conjunctivitis in Suva, Sigatoka, Nadi, Ba, Lautoka, and Savusavu.
Some of the Symptoms of conjunctivitis include pink or red color in the white of the eyes, increased tearing/watery eyes, itching, irritation, crusting of eyelids or lashes sometimes occurs, especially in the morning and sensitivity to bright lights sometimes occurs.
People are advised to wash their hands regularly during the day, not to rub or touch their eyes, splash cold water in your eyes regularly and do not rub your eyes while washing them.
Rubbing or touching eyes will aggravate the bug.
