The inaugural Jetstar flight has finally arrived in the country with 180 passengers on board.
The Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Faiyaz Koya and the Assistant Minister Lorna Eden were at Nadi International Airport to welcome the flight.
Koya said Australia has the biggest share of the market and they are constantly working in trying to increase the tourist numbers out of Australia.
Meanwhile Airports Fiji Limited Executive Chairman, Faiz Khan said this is a flight from a new port after 11 years.
Jetstar is an Australian low‑cost airline which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Qantas.
Tourism Fiji said the opening of this new route by Jetstar between Fiji and Australia is expected to benefit Fiji's growing tourism industry by attracting more tourists from Australia to Fiji's shores and boosting the economy.
