40-year-old security officer Josua Colanaudolu who is facing charges of rape and murder maintained in the Suva High Court today that he was forced to give answers during the caution interview.
Colanaudolu told his lawyer, Michael Fesaitu that he was forced to give answers throughout the caution interview when he was asked questions on the three rape cases and the rape and murder of the 14-year-old girl.
He said that the answers were fabricated and he was forced to sign on the caution interview.
Colanaudolu told the court that the police officers from Navua made sure that they got the answers they were looking for.
He later said that when he was caution interviewed by an officer, some officers entered the room and wanted to see the progress of the interview and whether he was cooperating.
Colanaudolu said that he felt threatened, scared, confused and his body became uneasy.
He told the court that before he was taken to the reconstruction of the scene at Lepanoni village, he was taken inside a room at Navua Police Station.
He said that there was a sketch already put on the white board.
Colanaudolu said that the officers made him stand in front of the board and told him where he would be taken.
Fesaitu then asked him on whether he confessed to the Justice of Peace that he raped and murdered the girl.
Colanaudolu denied this.
He said that he had told that JP that he was assualted by the police officers.
Colanaudolu who is facing one count of murder, 6 counts of rape, 4 counts of abduction and one count of indecently annoying a female.
The charges also include the case where Colanaudolu allegedly abducted, raped and murdered a 14‑year‑old girl in Deuba in March last year.
The trial continues before Justice Salesi Temo.
