Director of Immigration Nemani Vuniwaqa says he cannot give the reason why the two MWH Managers were deported on Friday.
Vuniwaqa says he has already advised the CEO of MWH that he should contact the higher authorities to get the reason for their deportation.
Fiji Roads Authority contractors MWH now part of Stantec, says it can confirm that two Fiji based employees were removed from Fiji last Friday.
MWH says neither the employees nor the company are aware of the reasons why they were removed.
Minister for Infrastructure Parveen Bala says the Fiji Roads Authority board is dealing with the issue regarding the dispute between FRA and its contractor MWH.
As we await the contractor’s next move, Bala says he is not involved in any of the discussions.
FRA has been in talks with MWH regarding issues surrounding the fees being paid to the company.
When questioned by Fijivillage on the dispute, the Fiji Roads Authority stated that it has a responsibility to the people and Government of Fiji to ensure that services sought and supplied by any consultant or contractor are rendered efficiently, effectively, in accordance with the law and provide value for money.
The Fiji Roads Authority confirmed to Fijivillage that Professional Engineering Services Advisors to the Authority, MWH Global’s contract with the FRA expires on the 31st of December this year and FRA does not discuss contractual or commercial matters with anyone other than the affected parties.
When asked about the dispute on the fees charged by MWH, the company’s media spokesperson said that they acknowledge there are some current issues around payment but maintain regular contact with FRA and remain hopeful that these will be resolved soon.
MWH was awarded the road management contract by FRA in 2012.
