Foreign national, Aiden Alec Hurtado who allegedly imported 20.5kg of cocaine into Fiji without lawful authority has again been denied bail by the Suva High Court.
High Court Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe has stated in his bail ruling that Hurtado’s proposed sureties had previous criminal records and he has no community ties to Fiji.
Justice Rajasinghe adds it is unlikely that Hurtado will appear in court to answer his charge if released on bail.
Hurtado’s re-trial will commence next Monday.
The Fiji Court of Appeal earlier ordered that Hurtado's acquittal be set aside and has also ordered his case to be re tried before a differently constituted bench.
