Thousands of Hindus around the country today took part in Ganpati Visarjan, which is the final ritual performed during the celebration of the birth of Lord Ganesha.
Hundreds of people had also gathered at My Suva Park in Suva to take part in the ceremony and to receive the blessings of Lord Ganesha before his idol was taken out to the sea.
Harshila Mistry has travelled from Auckland, New Zealand especially to take part in the ceremony which holds great significance to Hindus all around the World.
Mistry says the devotees have been fasting for the last 10 days of festival and it has been a great experience.
She says she has learnt that there is nothing greater than being grateful and appreciating family and friends.
Devotees who wore colorful clothes danced though the streets of Suva earlier today and took Lord Ganesha’s idol all the way to My Suva Park where they performed the final rituals before taking Lord Ganesha out to sea.
