The Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Koya has said the theme of the Vodafone Hibiscus Festival “Climate Change - Communities Adapting from the Ridge to the Reef” is timely.
During the opening of the festival today, Koya said some of the real impacts of climate change are already felt in Fiji.
Koya added it is a challenge for all contestants to take the message out there and become the advocates of climate change not just for this one week but for the rest of their lives.
Koya also said the Hibiscus Festival through the charity chest has assisted many groups and organizations in need.
He revealed that since 2006, charity has distributed a million dollars.
The Vodafone Fiji Hibiscus 2015 has kicked off at the Suva Foreshore with 13 queen contestants vying for the Miss Vodafone Fiji Hibiscus crown.
