The damaging heavy swell warning remains in force for low lying areas of Yasawa and the Mamanuca group, Southwest of Viti Levu, Coral Coast, Pacific Harbour, Kadavu, Beqa, Vatulele, Lomaiviti and Southern Lau group.
The Nadi Weather Office said the height of the swells in open waters today will be around 4 to 5 metres.
An intense high pressure system to the far southwest of Fiji continue to direct damaging heavy southerly swells over the group.
The mentioned areas can expect sea flooding and low lying coastal areas especially during high tides.
Director for DISMAC Akapusi Tuifagalele said Tabuya village in Kadavu, Komave and Namatakula villages in Nadroga were affected by the heavy swells yesterday.
Tuifagalele said Tabuya village had three houses destroyed while there was no destruction in Komave and Namatakula.
A villager from Tabuya, Kadavu, Navitalai Cavalevu said 15 homes were flooded.
Cavalevu said that they were terrified when the heavy swells affected their village at 5.30am yesterday.
He added that they had to run around the village to get the children and elderly people to a safe place.
Cavalevu said they were lucky they had a boat in the village which transported most of the villagers and their belongings to an evacuation centre on higher ground across a river.
He added that they are now focusing on trying to clean up their village.
The next high tide is at 8.10 tonight.
