Heavy rain currently being experienced in most part of the Lau Group - Moroivalu

Heavy rain and strong winds continue to be experienced in Lakeba, Lau.

Vosawale Onoitoga of Tubou village says that they have experienced heavy rain since Saturday and this has eased a bit coming into this afternoon.

Onoitoga says that villagers have put up shutters and are bracing for the worse as Category one Tropical Cyclone Mona continues to move towards the Lau group.

Commissioner Eastern Luke Moroivalu confirmed to Fijivillage that there is heavy rain currently being experienced in most part of the Lau Group.

Moroivalu says that his office is in contact with village headmen and district officers in the different islands in Lau.

Areas that are mostly affected by rain includes Vanua Vatu, Oneata, Moce, Komo, Kabara, Namuka-I-Lau, Fulaga and Ogea

Moroivalu says they have been informed that there are strong winds at times but there has no reports of damage to houses.
