A heavy rain alert is now in force for the Eastern parts of Viti Levu which include Suva, Nausori, Rakiraki, Navua, Lau and Lomaiviti group.
The heavy rain alert also remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Northern Lau group and nearby smaller islands.
The Nadi Weather Office says that this is being caused by a tropical depression which is lies over Rotuma and gradually moving towards east south-east.
They say that there is another trough of low pressure that is situated to the north-east of the country which is affecting the Northern parts of Fiji.
