A heavy rain alert is now in force for the eastern half of Viti Levu that include, Rakiraki, Korovou, Nausori, Suva, Lami, Navua and Pacific Harbour, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Lau, and Lomaiviti group.
The Nadi Weather Office this is due to a trough of low pressure with associated cloud and showers that lies slow moving over the eastern parts of the Fiji group.
It says that a strong wind warning is also in force for all land areas of Lau, Lomaiviti Group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.
The Weather Office says that the system will begin to clear by next Wednesday.
People can expect occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms and rain becoming frequent from tomorrow.
