The Ministry of Health says they are treating every complaint seriously and they are doing thorough investigations.
Health Minister Jone Usamate made this comment after serious concerns were raised by parents that they are asked to buy their own medicine if they are prescribed to get an injection.
One of the parents raised concern with Fijivillage that her daughter was vomiting and she took her daughter to the Bhanabhai Health Center last weekend.
She says that the doctor prescribed her a medicine and she was told that there is no medicine available at the Health Centre pharmacy and she has to buy the medicine.
Another concerned mother told us that she took her one year old daughter to the Bhanabhai Health Centre and her daughter was also prescribed five injections
She says that her daughter received two injections and when she took her on the third day, the nurses could not continue with her injection and she was told that there is a shortage of medicine.
She says her daughter has not fully recovered.
Usamate says that they will get the details of the patients from the Health Centre and will find out if the medicine is listed under the Free Medical Scheme or not.
However, he did not confirm if there is a shortage of medicine in the country.
We have also sent the details of the medicine and the patient to the Health Ministry.
