The Ministry of Health will be taking action against the responsible staff after the final investigation report in regards to the death of a baby at the Nausori Health Centre is completed.
Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services Dr Meciusela Tuicakau says they have received some preliminary reports and they are working hard on trying to rectify the issue.
Dr Tuicakau says they are especially focused on improving their communication and the care provided by the health personnel to the patients.
The Permanent Secretary says the final report of the investigation into the death of the nine month old baby at the Nausori Health Centre is expected to come out sometime next week.
A couple had taken their 9‑month‑old baby to the CWM Hospital on the 26th of April as the child was vomiting.
Surmila Krishan who is the mother of the child says when they arrived at the hospital, they were attended to by a nurse who put their baby on the nebulizer and the child started having breathing difficulties.
Krishan says they complained to the nurse and were informed there were no doctors available.
They rushed their child to the Nausori Health Centre and the baby died at the centre.
