The Ministry of Health is now trying to work out a system on how imported food from overseas will be rated.
National Advisor for Non Communicable Diseases, Dr. Isimeli Tukana said they will be following the Australian Health Star Rating system, a model which is used for food standards in Australia and New Zealand.
Questions have been raised by the President of the Fiji Grocers Association, Savendra Dayal on how Fiji will rate the food products which are coming from other parts of the World.
Tukana said they will be coming up with a solution soon.
The food labelling will contain Star Rating, something which people see on electrical appliances.
The nutrient profiling will be based on energy, saturated fat, sodium, protein, total sugar and fibre.
