The Ministry of Health has received 2,000 complaints through their National Health Call Centre.
This has been highlighted by Health Minister Doctor Ifereimi Waqainabete at the Induction and Orientation Workshop of 83 new doctors where he had reminded them of the issues they will be facing.
Waqainabete says doctors are called to be managers because most of them will be managing clinical centres and the health systems in the future.
He says doctors need to carry out weekly audits.
The Minister also urged the new doctors that it will be good for them to connect with the Vanua.
He says doctors need to improve the physical surroundings in hospitals and health centres.
Waqainabete says fixing those issues will take time, money and effort but he can assure people that the Ministry is committed to putting in place the changes required.
He says we need doctors who are proactive and can confront a colleague behaving inappropriately or practising unsafely.
The Minister adds if they come across something that needs repairing it is the doctor’s duty to report it, not just to assume somebody else will do so.
