The Ministry of Health has completed the investigation into the death of the nine month old baby who died at the Nausori Health Center.
Assistant Minister for Health Veena Bhatnagar said she explained to the family in a meeting that there was a short fall in the hospital’s customer services and they will definitely strengthen the Emergency Department at the CWM hospital.
Bhatnagar said the baby was seen by the nurse at the triage and they were asked to wait for a doctor and that is where the mis-communication happened.
Meanwhile Surmila Krishan who is the mother of the baby said they are not satisfied with the explanation given to them.
Krishan said they are yet to receive a proper explanation from the medical teams.
They are also planning to seek help from higher authorities.
The couple had taken their 9-month-old baby to the CWM Hospital on the 26TH of April as the child was vomiting.
Krishan said when they arrived at the hospital, they were attended to by a nurse who put their baby on the nebulizer and the child started having breathing difficulties.
Krishan said they complained to the nurse and were informed there were no doctors available.
They rushed their child to the Nausori Health Center and the baby died at the center.
