Head teacher to remain on suspension for alleged assault on student

The head teacher of Tailevu who allegedly assaulted a student last month will remain suspended for three months.

The Education Ministry has said this is to allow for the Disciplinary Committee to go through the case after a full report was forwarded to them.

The Ministry also said that they conducted their own investigation after the parents of the student lodged an official complaint.

It is alleged the head teacher hit the Year 8 student with a war club after he was caught wearing flip flops in school and refused to take them off when he was asked to do so by the teacher.

Meanwhile, police are yet to receive a report from the parents of the Year 8 student.
