Hard work has paid off for a 35-year-old man who came to Suva from Seaqaqa with only $40 in his pocket as he will be opening the fifth branch of his barber shop in Suva at the new FNPF mall.
The owner of Supercuts Barber Shop Faizal Hussein says he first came to Suva when he was 17 years old looking for better work opportunities with only $40 in his pocket.
He says he started off as a cleaner at a barber shop in Suva however the shop was badly damaged during the 2000 coup and later closed.
Hussein says the new Supercuts Barber shop in the FNPF mall will be different from all his other shops as there will be a special VIP room for customers who make appointments.
He said he was determined to start his own business and opened his first barber shop in Nabua with just a single wooden chair and a mirror.
The Supercuts Barber Shop will be opened along with some other shops in the newly constructed FNPF mall today by the Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Faiyaz Koya.
FNPF’s Chief Operating Officer Jaoji Koroi earlier told Fijivillage that the cost of the mall at Greig Street in Suva is close to $17 million.
There are 22 retail spaces and 6 food court outlets while they also have office space available in the building.
