HMAS Canberra crew and RFMF personnel part of clean-up campaign

30 HMAS Canberra crew members and 30 RFMF members were part of the ‘Fight the Bite’ cleanup campaign this morning at the Suva Foreshore.

The clean-up was aimed at destroying breeding grounds for mosquitoes to prevent diseases like dengue, chikungunya and zika.

Commanding Officer of HMAS Canberra, Captain Chris Smith says the crew members are more than delighted to help out in the cleanup.

Captain Smith says this is the perfect time to help out since today is also World Humanitarian Day.

The HMAS Canberra will return to Australia tomorrow.
