A $1.5m project called “great hall” which is currently under construction for the women of the 15 tikina of Cakaudrove is expected to be completed by June.
Roko Tui Cakaudrove Sara Bulatani said the facilities inside this great hall includes a conference area and a commercial kitchen.
This project which started in 2013 is located in the centre of Savusavu town and is funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia.
Bulatani said the women from the 15 tikinas will take turns to use the kitchen for cooking and selling food as an income generating project.
He said to assist in the construction of the building, each Tikina offered to provide building materials like pine, vesi, stones and sand.
Bulatani added that the men from the 15 Tikina supported their wives in this project.
