Life for people living in the maritime zones will soon be made easier when government will increase infrastructure development on the islands.
Commissioner Eastern Luke Moroivalu said they are now looking at working with shipping companies to provide a franchise to service the islands.
Moroivalu said he has met with the Provincial Administrators, Agricultural Marketing Officers and Divisional Officers last week to discuss ways into assisting business with people living in the maritime areas.
He said majority of the capital projects on the islands that were funded through the 2014 budget has been completed with the total cost of $11 million.
This will allow the shipping companies to send in their vessels as the new wharf and roads have eased the burden for the farmers in getting their produce to the ships.
