The Fijian Government has signed a concession agreement with HealthCare Fiji Private Limited for the Private Public Partnership at the Lautoka and Ba hospitals.
FNPF owns 80% of HealthCare Fiji Private Limited while Aspen Medical of Australia owns 20%.
Aspen Medical is responsible for the Public Private Partnership that will see the upgrade and running of the Lautoka and Ba Mission Hospital.
While signing the agreement, Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum says this will bring better health services of overseas standards.
Sayed‑Khaiyum says these include cardiac surgery and radiotherapy.
He says this does not in any way mean any job losses.
Sayed-Khaiyum says it means the staff that is there have the option to work for Healthcare Fiji Limited or alternatively they can join other Public healthcare facilities outside Lautoka and Ba.
Sayed‑Khaiyum says that the services that people do not pay for at the two hospitals will continue.
