Good News for National Sporting bodies and athletes around the country as the Minister for Youth and Sports Parveen Bala has today announced that they have identified a piece of land to construct a National Sports Academy.
Bala says that Fiji needs to have a more business approach towards sports to ensure that there are realistic programs to achieve the aims of regional and international success.
He adds the government and the Fiji National Sports Commission are also working with various Sporting Bodies to establish their regional and Oceania training centres in Fiji.
Bala says that one of the key areas government is committed to ensuring Fiji has the best and accessible sports facilities.
The Minister says that government is committed to new indoor arenas in Lautoka, Nasinu and in Suva, new 50 metre and 25metre pools and the international running track in Lautoka.
He also highlighted that smaller and often neglected sports will also be targeted and this includes the establishment of a new boxing gym in Suva soon.
Bala was speaking at the Fiji National Sports Commission Annual Conference 2019 at the Grand Pacific Hotel.
