The government’s total revenue and expenditure levels have been revised downwards for this year.
According to the 2014 National Budget, revenue for this year was expected to be 2.7 billion dollars while expenditure was expected to be 2.8 billion dollars.
The Finance Ministry said this year’s budget was aligned to deliver the Bill of Rights provisions in the constitution such as access to education, health care and appropriate infrastructure.
The Ministry said given the performance of revenue and expenditure levels by end of October this year, the total revenue collection for 2014 has been revised to 2.3 billion dollars while the total expenditure has been revised to 2.5 billion dollars.
Finance Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said total revenue forecast for 2015 is 3.1 billion dollars while expenditure is budgeted at 3.3 billion dollars.
