The government is working with the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations to assist poultry farmers that were badly affected by Cyclone Winston.
Assistant FAO Representative to Fiji, Joann Young said as part of the program a total of 4,200 chickens and feed will be supplied to 350 poultry farmers around Viti Levu, Vanua Levu and Taveuni.
Director Animal Health and Production Tomasi Tunabuna said this short-term relief program will also be focused on food security awareness.
The farms that are being assisted were identified by the National Disaster Management Office and the Ministry of Agriculture.
