Four ships from the Government Shipping services have been deployed to various maritime islands in Fiji in support of pre-polling.
The Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Works, Transport and Public Utilities, Francis Kean said the ministry, including government shipping services have been working closely with the office of the Supervisor of Elections.
Kean confirmed as of yesterday afternoon three ships from the Government Shipping services have been deployed and the Iloilovatu is expected to leave for Lau today.
Kean said these vessels have been charted by the Elections Office.
He added the vessels are taking stuff from the elections office including ballot boxes, the relevant enforcement officers, and the stakeholders that are involved to ensure the safe conduct of the elections in the maritime islands.
Kean said by end of next week all the boats will return to Suva.
