More than 1000 residents of Kalekana, outside Lami Town have expressed that they are pleased that bad road conditions will now be a thing of the past.
This is after Fiji Roads Authority contractors, Fulton Hogan Hiways have completed the sealing of the 830‑metre community road in Kalekana.
Kalekana resident, Kilioni Bainivalu says that the change has been long coming and they are pleased with the development.
Bainivalu adds that many of them are not materialistically wealthy, but this is something that will make their lives easier whether it's travelling in a vehicle or walking in wet weather with bags of groceries to their homes.
Fulton Hogan Hiways Project Engineer Richa Pillay said that work also included the widening of the existing turning area to allow access to all vehicle types.
Fiji Roads Authority Acting Chief Executive Officer, Robert Sen, says that FRA has a programme to seal other unsealed roads in the near future as per the planned programme for the 2017‑2018 Financial Year.
