Farmers and villagers living along the Naboro Cocoa Road, located 30 kilometres outside of Korovou Town, are now benefitting from the work that was carried out to improve the road.
The headman of Veilolo Settlement, Mesake Soli says the road was often in a terrible condition.
The work on Naboro Cocoa Road included grading, compaction, and drainage clearance of at least 1.2 kilometres.
Fulton Hogan Hiways Korovou Depot Supervisor, Ulaiasi Bolalailai, says that the road upgrade benefits the farmers and the 3,000 villagers living in the Delakado, Natadradave, and Vorovoro villages and Veilolo settlement.
He says it is like a new life for them and this has significantly improved access for farmers, especially in rainy weather.
Soli added that when it used rain, their kids did not attend school and had to stay home until it is dry again and carrier drivers and taxis were reluctant to come and drop them so they had to walk most of the time.
More than 40 farmers live in the area and supply yaqona and dalo to the Nausori and Suva markets.
